NFL sideline reporter Melanie Collins went in full rescue mode this Wednesday to save her dog.
Collins, one of the top sideline reporters for CBS Sports, went viral earlier this week for sharing vacation photos on Instagram. Unfortunately for the former “SportsNation” host, she wasn’t able to relax this afternoon.

Moments ago, Collins revealed that her foster puppy locked himself in her car. She shared a photo of a smashed car window along with this caption: “When your foster puppy locks himself in the car with your phone and keys in 93 degree heat.”
While that’s incredibly scary, Collins deserves credit for doing what was necessary. She could always get a new window. The dog’s life, on the other hand, isn’t replaceable.

Collins made sure to share a photo of her dog just in case people were still worried.
“Zero remorse,” Collins wrote for her caption.

We’re certainly glad that Collins’ foster puppy is OK.

Now that Collins has taken care of this situation, the focus will probably shift back to her career in sports media.
“Before being promoted to the NFL in 2018, Collins served as a sideline reporter for college football and college basketball on CBS Sports Network,” her bio for CBS states. “She also worked as a fill-in host for “SportsNation” and “First Take” on ESPN. Collins was the face of Yahoo! Sports where her assignments included reporting from all major sporting events across the globe including the Winter Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, NCAA Football National Championship, Stanley Cup Playoffs, NCAA Basketball Final Four, NFL Draft, NBA Finals, and the World Series. Collins was formerly the host of Big Break and Driver vs. Driver on Golf Channel.”
CBS has not yet announced Collins’ assignment for Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
