WATCH: Ed Policy talks about taking over as president of the Packers
Ed Policy is set to become the president and CEO of the Packers on July 25. Policy sits down with Dominique Yates to discuss his goals for the organization.
When the Green Bay Packers traded Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills in the middle of the 2023 season it left many fans disappointed.
The cornerback had become an immediate fan favorite for his instant impact on the field in Green Bay from the moment he put on a Packers jersey.
So it’s natural that as he continues to go unsigned in the early part of the summer about a month before NFL teams reconvene for training camp, fans are pining for a return to the Packers.
Packers Nation, however, will be disappointed again by what Douglas recently said about a reunion.
“Don’t think that will happen buddy,” Douglas replied to an X user who reached out to the 30-year-old on the social media platform hoping that he would sign with the Packers.

Others kept the conversation going.
“Not the reply I needed today but still a man can dream you’d be back in green and yellow,” another X user responded in the thread.
Douglas had a response for that, one that shows he’s paying attention to the Packers.
“They got Bo melton,” Douglas replied.
Douglas, of course, is referring to Packers wide receiver Bo Melton. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is having Melton do some reps at cornerback this offseason.
He worked with that unit during the team’s mandatory minicamp earlier this month, though it’s unlikely he sees any action at the position during the season.
The Packers did acquire a cornerback this offseason.
When free agency opened in March, the Packers signed 27-year-old Nate Hobbs, who spent the first four years of his career with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Packers, however, cut two-time All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander this month. He has since signed with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year deal.
Rasul Douglas stats
Douglas was stellar with the Bills. He had 58 tackles (43 solo), five pass deflections and one forced fumble in 15 games last season for Buffalo, which reached the AFC Championship Game. And he had six tackles and recovered the onside kick in the closing minute that secured the Bills’ 27-25 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the playoffs.
He had four interceptions during nine games with the Bills to close out the 2023 season after the trade.
Douglas shined with the Packers after Green Bay acquired the former undrafted free agent in a deal with the Arizona Cardinals in the middle of the 2021 season.
He had been cut by two teams earlier that season and was spending time on the Cardinals practice squad before the Packers gave him an opportunity. And he took full advantage.
Douglas’ interception in his first game with the Packers sealed a big road win over his old team, the Cardinals, who at the time were undefeated.
He went on to have five interceptions, plus two touchdowns, during that season with the Packers.
Given this performance, the Packers signed Douglas to a three-year deal in March 2022. He then went on to post career highs in 2022 with 85 combined tackles with 69 solo. Douglas also set career-highs with 13 passes defended in both 2021 and 2022 in Green Bay.
But Douglas’ time in Green Bay ended rather abruptly in a trade deadline move on Oct. 31, 2023. The Packers shipped Douglas, along with a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, to the Bills for a 2024 third-round pick. Green Bay would eventually use it to draft Missouri linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper with the 91st overall pick. Hopper was used sparingly as a backup and finished with nine tackles in 17 games last year.
