The Seattle Seahawks wrapped up their mandatory minicamp last week. Head coach Mike Macdonald oversaw two competitive practices. One of the most exciting players to monitor was rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider selected Milroe at No. 92 overall in the third round, making him the team’s highest-drafted QB in more than a decade. The hope is that Milroe will develop into Sam Darnold’s eventual successor.

Milroe was an active participant at minicamp. He routinely impressed and especially finished the offseason program strong, according to various beat reporters in attendance.
The Seahawks aren’t putting any pressure on Milroe this season. Darnold is the starting quarterback and veteran Drew Lock is the backup. Milroe will be afforded an opportunity to develop behind the scenes.
Milroe was considered a raw product coming out of Alabama. The Houston, Texas native completed 64.3 percent of his passing attempts this season. Milroe threw for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He needs to take steps forward as a passer.

Darnold is on a three-year contract. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will work to develop Milroe into the dual-threat quarterback his performance ceiling suggests he can be. Milroe showed the Seahawks everything they needed to see at minicamp. He’ll attempt to carry that momentum over to training camp in late July.
