New general manager Mike Borgonzi set out to change the culture of the franchise, and in his first draft with the Tennessee Titans, he selected quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall selection. So far, that was the right move.
By all accounts, Ward has been everything the team had hoped for. He is confident and has the talent, work ethic, and leadership required to become the face of a franchise. Like all rookies, there have been mistakes, but Ward has also demonstrated the coachability and mindset to help overcome them and quickly bounce back.

Although it has only been OTAs and minicamp, Ward has been impressive and appears to be on an upward trajectory. That is one reason why Damian Parson of Bleacher Report lists Ward as one of five NFL rookies trending in the right direction.
Cam Ward – Tennessee Titans
After completing mandatory minicamp, Cam Ward is proving why he was the first overall pick this year.
The Tennessee Titans needed a facelift after the disappointing results from their Will Levis experiment. In comes Ward, a mentally tough and physically gifted passer with a gunslinger mentality. During the spring and early-summer workouts, Ward has displayed the high-octane arm strength to fire passes into tight windows with immense velocity.
Ward’s confidence and competitive nature shine in practices and the locker room, and his demeanor is rubbing off on those around him. This is important considering they drafted multiple rookie pass-catchers to grow with him in this offense.
Ward is being pushed during the offseason by 2024 starter Will Levis, who has made strides and has also had an impressive stretch of practices. But all signs point to Ward assuming control of the offense sooner rather than later. Tennessee did not invest the No. 1 pick in the draft to have him hold a clipboard on the sidelines.
Based on workouts and minicamp reports, the positive aspect of this is that Ward is earning the reps and performing at a high level. He is dedicated to his craft and one of the first players to arrive at the facility. He is in no way resting on his draft status, and the Titans will get better from that.
