CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Bengals announced on Wednesday that they are going to the exercise the fifth-year option on 2022 first-round draft pick Dax Hill.

The deadline to exercise that option is May 1.

NFL teams are allowed to use the option only on first round draft picks.

Hill is expected to earn $12.6 million now in the 2026 season.

Hill suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the fifth game of last season. He started the first five games of 2024 at outside cornerback and played well. He started all 17 games of the 2023 season at safety, but struggled.

In his rookie season, Hill played all 17 regular-season games, making two starts at slot cornerback, and then all three playoff games. He has two career interceptions, 15 passes defensed and 2.5 quarterback sacks.

It’s unclear what position he will play this season.
