Let’s take a closer look at this Jacksonville Jaguars team as we go player-by-player through the roster. Up next is RB Tank Bigsby.

With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 91-man roster.

Going alphabetically, up is running back Tank Bigsby.

In his second NFL season, Bigsby took on a much larger role on offense, carrying the ball 168 times in 2024, compared to just 50 carries as a rookie. Bigsby averaged 4.6 yards per rush and scored seven touchdowns.

Those 4.6 yards per carry that Bigsby averaged were tied for the 13th-most among running backs. He was one of the more difficult ball carriers to bring down as well, ranking third in average yards after contact and 13th in missed tackles forced, despite being 28th in carries.

This all resulted in big plays for Bigsby, who was 11th in PFF’s breakaway rate, which measures how often a back had a rush of 15 or more yards.

On the flip side of all that, fumbles were an issue at times, with Bigsby losing three of them last season.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season

What the playing time and general workload will look like for Bigsby—as well as Travis Etienne and Bhayshul Tuten—within Liam Coen’s offense remains to be seen. That will be one of the more intriguing training camp battles to take place this summer.

However, this new-look Jaguars offense should lead to improved efficiency from the running back position. For one, GM James Gladstone has reshaped the offensive line unit with six new additions between free agency and the NFL draft. This has created a lot of competition, which hopefully results in better play up front.

In addition to that, the multiplicity element that Coen wants prevalent throughout the offense can help keep defenses off balance and guessing by throwing a variety of looks at them, which can create opportunities for the skill position players to take advantage of.

A strong running game is a key component to Coen’s offense, not to mention that having a reliable rushing attack keeps the offense ahead of the sticks and out of predictable passing situations.
