Perhaps the most surprising acquisition the Seattle Seahawks made this offseason was signing former long time Dallas Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence in free agency. This wasn’t just a prove-it deal for Seattle, as they gave him a real commitment with a three-year deal worth up to $42 million.
Now we have our first glimpse at Lawrence in a Seahawks uniform. I must say, college navy and action green is quite the uniform upgrade for the veteran defensive end.
In his career, Lawrence has played in 141 games and recorded 61.5 sacks. He was limited to only four games in 2024, but still had three sacks in those games. In 2022 and 2023 he played in all 17 regular season games as well as three playoff games in this span as well.
Philadelphia reminded the league last year just how far a defensive line can take a team, and it’s clear Seattle wants to replicate that kind of success. The Seahawks are aiming to field one of the nastiest defensive lines in the NFL this year, and having a veteran like Lawrence (who is familiar with defensive coordinator Aden Durde) can help elevate this unit to the status they are seeking.
