With all of the offseason activities behind them, the Tennessee Titans are wrapping up all of the final details before the start of training camp. For the players, they are preparing their bodies and minds for the rigors of the NFL season.

One player who is hoping for big things in 2025 is running back Tyjae Spears. The third-year back is coming off a disappointing injury-filled season, which never allowed him to capitalize on the momentum he generated as a rookie in 2023, when he rushed for 453 yards and two touchdowns and pulled in 52 passes for 385 yards and a touchdown, as the change-of-pace to running back Derrick Henry.

Heading into 2024, many thought it would be a committee approach between Spears and Tony Pollard, but due to injuries and overall offensive woes, that snap-share never materialized. Although banged up, Spears did flash at times, but he never matched his 2023 output, running for 312 yards and four touchdowns and 30 passes for 224 yards and a score.

After minicamp, where he looked crisp and healthy, the diminutive running back caught up with Jim Wyatt to talk about the Titans and his goals heading into 2025.

“I learned (last year) that I can fight adversity really well,” he said. “I learned a lot over the course of last year, and in life. I’ve done a lot of reflecting in the last year.”

And with 2024 behind him, he is focused on contributing any way he can and helping the Titans get back on track. This would be a significant development for an offense where head coach Brian Callahan has talked openly all offseason about dividing reps and keeping the running backs fresh.

“Just trying to make the most of my opportunities,” he said. “Definitely hungry for more, but I can’t do anything about last year. Confidence is building but definitely hungry for more. I’m just taking it one day at a time, and being the best I can be. I know that statement gets thrown around, but really stamping and solidifying it. I just want to show my best self whenever I can.”

There is no doubt that Spears will be ready to roll once training camp begins, and after seeing his performance during minicamp, where his explosiveness was on display, this could be an excellent sign for the offense, and it’s something he is ready for when called upon.Â
