It was hard to tell from his reaction, though Young isn’t given to many outbursts. There were some moments in the second half when television cameras caught him expressing it, and he admitted as much.
“I mean, just a competitor,” Young said. “When there’s stuff that doesn’t go the right way, you get frustrated and then you wipe it. I think we all have that. No one’s happy with the result today. We all come to the sideline, and we have our time to be upset, and then we wipe it. I think that’s part of the business.
“You can wish you can get a throw back or a decision or whatever and then you have your one or two minutes and then right when the ball gets back to you, you don’t remember it.”
And as has been his custom, Young offered no pithy soundbites when asked the inevitable question about whether he ought to start again, saying as he has consistently, that it was out of his control.
“Obviously, I’m grateful to play,” he said. “I’m a competitor, of course, I want to be on the field. But again, I trust the coaching staff; they’re going to do what’s best for the team. I’m going to, no matter what my role is, I’m going to be with the best for the team and do everything I can to contribute to winning football.
“And again, the beauty of it for me through all this is like the relationship with Andy. Great, great person, we’re really close. So, we both know, regardless of whatever circumstances are, that we’re going to be there for each other.”
