With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 91-man roster.
Going alphabetically, up is tight end Shawn Bowman.
Shawn Bowman’s profile
NFL experience: One season
2024 Snap count totals
Bowman, who signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie after the 2024 NFL draft, did not see any regular season snaps in 2024.

During his one season at Rutgers after transferring there from Maine, Bowman caught four passes for 24 yards, with most of his snaps coming in the run game as a blocker.
2024 PFF grades2024 Season Review
Bowman spent all of training camp and the preseason with the Jaguars. He appeared in all three preseason games, which included playing 82 snaps on offense and another 17 on special teams. He was released during roster cutdowns and then signed to the practice squad.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
This is a new-look Jaguars’ tight end room, with GM James Gladstone moving on from Evan Engram, along with making three outside additions in free agency and two more after the draft as UDFA additions.

However, cracking the 53-man roster will still presumably be an uphill battle for Bowman. We know that Brenton Strange is at the top of that depth chart, and behind him are three experienced players in Hunter Long, Johnny Mundt, and Quintin Morris.
With Gladstone bringing in John Copenhaver and Patrick Herbert after the draft as well, it’s not a given that Bowman will end up on the practice squad again either.
As we can see with how this room has been built out, there is a major emphasis on run blocking, and that will likely have to be where Bowman–and the other young players at this position–differentiate themselves. Being able to contribute to multiple special teams phases will be another way to stand out as well.
