On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced they had signed No. 1 overall pick Travis Hunter to his rookie contract. The Jaguars made Hunter the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft after a stellar career at the University of Colorado, where he was a star at wide receiver and cornerback.

Hunter and the Jaguars agreed on a four-year, $46.65 million fully guaranteed contract. His $30.57 million signing bonus was paid entirely up front. This has never been done before with a non-quarterback and sets a very unique precedent. This was likely the reason for the holdup on getting Hunter signed and from his side, it was a necessity given that he has an opportunity to start on both sides of the football.

Hunter’s signing leaves only the Cincinnati Bengals‘ Shemar Stewart as the final unsigned first-round pick. Stewart continues to hold out as the Bengals are looking to set a new precedent with their contract wording for top picks and Stewart doesn’t want to be the guy who signs first.
