Former Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten made it official on Tuesday, signing his rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tuten was the No. 104 overall pick in April’s 2025 NFL draft — the second pick of the fourth round. His signing means there are only 34 unsigned draft picks from the most recent draft.

Tuten, a native of Paulsboro, New Jersey, played his first two collegiate seasons at North Carolina A&T before transferring to Virginia Tech after the 2022 season. In two seasons for the Hokies, Tuten rushed for over 2,000 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also caught four touchdowns and ran two kickoffs back for touchdowns.

Tuten was one of the most impressive offensive skill players at the 2025 NFL Combine, leading the running backs with a 4.32-second 40-yard dash, also the fifth-highest at the Combine.

Fumbles are an area of concern for Tuten. He fumbled the ball nine times at Virginia Tech. Fortunately, he didn’t lose all of them, but he must prove that’s not an issue to earn the trust of his NFL coaches.

Tuten enters a promising backfield situation with former first-round pick Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby. Etienne rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons, but took a big step back last season, rushing for only 558 yards. Something else to monitor from Etienne is that he’s averaged less than four yards per attempt the last two seasons. Bigsby, a 2023 third-round pick, led the Jags with 766 rushing yards last season.

Good luck, Bhayshul. Hokie Nation is rooting for you.
