Colin Cowherd Predicts Surprise Coach Firing For 2025 NFL Season originally appeared on The Spun.
Colin Cowherd isn’t waiting for the NFL season to begin to place a head coach on the hot seat.
During this Tuesday’s edition of “The Herd” on FS1, Cowherd and his co-host John Middlekauff shared their bold predictions for the 2025 season. One of Cowherd’s hot takes is that the Los Angeles Chargers, not the Kansas City Chiefs, will win the AFC West.

Cowherd also predicted that a popular head coach will be fired either during or after the 2025 season.
Although the Miami Dolphins have done well with Mike McDaniel at the helm, Cowherd can see the franchise making a change within the next year.
“I don’t like their direction. This is a team that has run through coaches. I think Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel are gone,” Cowherd said. “New England is potentially really good. Buffalo is winning the division. Third place gets both the GM and the coahc removed.”

McDaniel started off his stint in Miami with such promise, leading the Dolphins to a 9-8 record and trip to the playoffs in 2022. He followed that up with an 11-6 record and second consecutive playoff appearance in 2023.

Unfortunately for McDaniel, the Dolphins took a step back during the 2024 season. To be fair, Tua Tagovailoa missed six games due to injury. The offense really struggled without him under center.
The Dolphins will kick off their 2025 campaign against the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 7 before taking on the Patriots and Dolphins in their next two games.
If McDaniel wants to keep his seat cool, he’ll need to avoid a slow start to the season.
