A few Carolina Panthers are about to study under the game’s very best.

The fifth installment of Tight End University, an annual training summit for the NFL’s tight ends, kicked off in Nashville, Tenn. this week. This year’s class was announced during the weekend, and includes Carolina’s Tommy Tremble, Dominique Dafney and 2025 draft pick Mitchell Evans.

With Tremble on the road to recovery from a recent back surgery, the 22-year-old Evans may factor into Carolina’s plans at the position earlier than expected. But so far, the returns are pretty good on the fifth-round selection.

“What carries over from the film is, a really versatile guy,” head coach Dave Canales said of Evans during rookie minicamp in May. “Whether it was the individual drills, going through blocking with Pat [McPherson], the footwork stuff. And then just being a reliable target. He’s a really smooth mover in his routes, plays compact at the top. So—I think just all those things—we just felt like a really well-rounded, clean football player, and certainly fits in to what we do.”

Tight End University was founded by Panthers great Greg Olsen, as well as Kansas City’s Travis Kelce and San Francisco’s George Kittle, in 2021. The program aims to bring tight ends together for a week of film study, on-field drills, recovery and more.

So this will be a perfect opportunity for Carolina’s young tight ends to learn a thing or two.
