Much has now been said and written about the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason and the changes head coach Zac Taylor has put forth in an effort to avoid slow starts.
Among other things, the big change to the timing of training camp practices has stuck out. So has the possibility of starters getting snaps in one preseason game or even more.

Another notable change is the sheer intensity of practices, something detailed by center Ted Karras recently.
“We went out there for the last nine or 10 practices and really got after it – more so than we have in the past,” Karras told Bengals radio broadcaster Dan Hoard.

The commentary from minicamp sounds good and registers as notable, but whether it translates to an upgrade on the field remains to be seen.
For most fans, the Bengals didn’t seem to do enough on the interior of the offensive line this offseason, adding rookie Dylan Fairchild to the mix with veteran free agent Lucas Patrick, meaning Cordell Volson and Cody Ford will still compete for starting jobs, too.

The Bengals are mostly relying on that injection of competition to mesh well with new line coach Scott Peters.
So far, at least, the reviews are good, but Bengals fans will surely have eyes on whether the good vibes continue into the more important parts of training camp next month.
