Where does the Indianapolis Colts’ 2025 roster rank among the youngest and oldest rosters in the NFL?
According to Spotrac, the Colts are on the younger side, with Chris Ballard’s roster ranking 13th in average age at 26.0 years old. The Packers once again have the NFL’s youngest roster at 25.3 years of age, while the Commanders have the oldest at 27.7 years old on average.
Sportscasting.com took this a step further and looked at the average age of projected starting lineups based on team depth charts. In that regard, the Colts are in a similar spot, ranked 14th at 25.53 years old.
As the rankings indicate, there is a good mixture of established veterans and younger, high-potential talent on the Colts roster.
That veteran group includes players like Michael Pittman, Jonathan Taylor, Quenton Nelson, DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Charvarius Ward, Zaire Franklin, and Cam Bynum, among others. Younger players who will have key roles this season include Laiatu Latu, Jaylon Carlies, Tanor Bortolini, Matt Goncalves, and Tyler Warren.
As we’ve discussed before, despite the unknowns at quarterback, there is a lot to like about this Colts roster.
The secondary has been reshaped with the additions of Ward and Bynum, not to mention that Lou Anarumo’s presence as defensive coordinator should help elevate the play of this entire unit. This is also a defensive front that has been heavily invested in.
On offense, the Colts boast a well put-together wide receiver unit; they added Tyler Warren at tight end, and of course, have Jonathan Taylor at running back.
Even with somewhat steady play from the quarterback position, regardless of who it is, the opportunity for the Colts to stack some wins does seem to exist.
