And then there were two.

After wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter signed a fully guaranteed, four-year, $46.49 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, just two first-round draft picks remain unsigned: defensive lineman Shemar Stewart (Cincinnati Bengals) and cornerback Jahdae Barron (Denver Broncos).

Stewart has had a messy contract dispute with the Bengals that has repeatedly made headlines in recent weeks. The rookie and the team’s management clearly do not see eye-to-eye, and they’ve let everyone know it.

Fortunately, the Barron negotiations have been the opposite.

While no deal has been struck yet, the Broncos have not said anything publicly, and neither has Barron’s camp. They’re working behind the scenes to iron out a deal ahead of the 2025 season.

Thanks to the collective bargaining agreement between NFL players and league owners, we already know is set to earn about $18 million over four years, but the details — like how much of that is guaranteed — can be negotiated. Hunter just signed a fully guaranteed deal, but it’s hard to imagine Denver following Jacksonville’s lead.

With no public bickering and no reports suggesting a potential holdout, there’s no reason to panic yet on the Barron front. An agreement could be right around the corner. Stay tuned.
