Most would likely agree Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor heads into the 2025 season with something of a warm seat.
Taylor, after all, reworked his coaching staff this offseason, especially making big changes across the defense and offensive line. He’s also made big changes to offseason work and the approach to the preseason, hopefully in order to avoid another one of those slow starts.

But not everyone is convinced. CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan tabbed Taylor as one of the NFL head coaches with the hottest seats and predicted the Bengals will move on next offseason:
“However, poor starts to the season have also been a key factor, as they own a 2-6 record in their first four games of the season in the last two years combined. That falls directly onto the shoulders of Zac Taylor. The Bengals head coach is entering his seventh season on the job and is 46-52-1 over his tenure. He’s coming off back-to-back 9-8 seasons, but those have largely been looked at as disappointing campaigns despite being over .500 because of the high-flying offense.”

Folks are going to have a hard time convincing Bengals fans that the team will actually move on from a head coach this early in one’s tenure after the many, many years of Marvin Lewis.

But if the Bengals do fail to make the playoffs again, one has to wonder if the team won’t make a move while Joe Burrow remains in his prime. A fresh infusion of ideas around the core group of offensive players might be appealing, should things get to that point.
Still, this is getting ahead of things. Taylor’s seat with the Bengals could be warm, but only a colossal failure would swing things into this uncomfortable territory.
