Younghoe Koo, a Georgia Southern Alumnus and placekicker for the Atlanta Falcons, will be the commencement speaker at one of Georgia Southern University’s graduation ceremonies.
Koo, who has been the Falcons’ placekicker since 2019, has quickly become one of the NFL’s most prolific scorers.

Where is Younghoe Koo from?
Born in South Korea in 1994, Koo moved to the U.S. with his mother when he was 12. He lived in New Jersey and then attended college in Georgia.
When did Younghoe Koo attend Georgia Southern?
Koo played four seasons of college football for the Georgia Southern Eagles, 2013-2017. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in logistics, materials, and supply chain management.
After college, according to Wikipedia, he played in the professionally on these teams:
“Koo is sixth on the NFL’s all-time leaderboard in field goal percentage and is one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history,” according to a press release from Georgia Southern. “He’s a record-setting player, known for the most made field goals in a single season with 37, and is the first player in franchise history to make at least eight field goals of at least 50 yards without a miss.”
Who is Younghoe Koo outside of football?
Beyond his career, Koo is known for his community involvement. He hosts an annual youth football camp and serves as the face of Positive Athlete Georgia, an organization that honors high school athletes who positively impact their communities.
