New England Patriots safeties coach Scott Booker believes the Patriots are going to be a violent defense in the 2025 season.

They are currently built with the personnel to be exactly that on the football field. The additions of veteran cornerback Carlton Davis III and rookie Craig Woodson added even more firepower to an already talented secondary for the Patriots.

That will only make things easier for the talent up front, including Christian Barmore, Milton Williams, Keion White, Joshua Farmer, Harold Landry III and Bradyn Swinson. The team also added Robert Spillane and Jack Gibbens at linebacker.

By and large, this Patriots defense has the personnel to play the type of style that Booker wants.

“In press-man, we’re going to be a challenging, violent defense, and it’s great to have those guys do that without having to push and prod them,” Booker said, via MassLive’s Karen Guregian. “That’s in their DNA, and we’re just going to bring that out.”

The Patriots dealt with coaching inexperience, along with major injuries and absences, last season which led to a significant drop-off in production. There is legitimate hope that could all change this year with the roster upgrades and the arrival of coach Mike Vrabel.

The defensive unit in New England might finally be good enough to strike fear into the hearts of opposing offenses.
