Miscues Help Falcons Take – and Keep – Lead

Miscues by the Raiders gave Atlanta great starting field position on its first two possessions. The Falcons began their first drive at the Raiders 48-yard line after recovering an Alexander Mattison fumble. The Raiders defense stood strong though as rookie defensive tackle Jonah Laulu sacked Kirk Cousins on third down for a 10-yard loss to push the Falcons out of field goal range.

The Raiders’ next possession resulted in a tipped punt and Atlanta took over just shy of midfield at their own 49-yard line. They capitalized in six plays and found the end zone on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Drake London.

In the second quarter, Ameer Abdullah called for a fair catch at the three-yard line and the Falcons took advantage with a safety on a run play two snaps later.
