The highly anticipated sequel to the cult classic hit movie Happy Gilmore will be released on July 25th, exclusively on Netflix. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was confirmed to be making a cameo in the film, and his co-star revealed his assessment of the ten-time Pro Bowler’s skills during a recent interview.

Christopher McDonald, known for the role of Shooter McGavin, spoke with Sports Illustrated recently about Kelce’s appearance in the new film.

“I have a love-hate relationship with Travis Kelce; his team beats my Buffalo Bills way too often. And I blame the refs sometimes. You get very into football, which I am. But that’s a great team,” said McDonald, “Travis being the superstar that he is, at the end of the day, he’s a tremendous guy. I really loved the guy as a person. And, surprisingly, a very good actor. He had too much fun.”

The Chiefs notably defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game earlier this year, adding to their postseason winning streak against Josh Allen and company.

Kelce had expressed interest in participating in the Happy Gilmore sequel since Sandler’s appearance on the New Heights podcast last year. Sandler made it official on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ with the initial teaser trailer featuring Kelce, released during the Chiefs’ Christmas Day victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last year on Netflix.
