The working theory with the Pittsburgh Steelers is that they are going to get through he 2025 season with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and then go into the 2026 NFL draft with the goal of picking a quarterback. But what if they don’t? There are some quality veteran free agents set to his the market at the end of the 2025 season and there are several guys who will be 2027 free agents who might be available via trade. In our latest five-round mock draft update, we decided to pass on a quarterback and decided to roll with Will Howard and his continued development and a potential veteran addition.
First round – WR Jordyn Tyson – Arizona State
Without a quarterback in the first round, we go with Tyson, who is one of the best all-around playmakers in the draft and a true No. 1 receiver.
Second round – CB Domani Jackson – Alabama
Experienced lockdown cornerback who can replace Darius Slay in the starting lineup as a longterm starter.
Third round – EDGE Derrick Moore – Michigan
Moore is the pick here in case the team decides to move on from T.J. Watt and the two sides can’t get a contract sorted out.
Third round – TE Max Klare – Purdue
The Steelers offense could be lethal with two receiving-threats at tight end so we take Klare here to pair up with Pat Freiermuth.
Third round – RB Jonah Coleman – Washington
Jaylen Warren could leave in free agency in the offseason and if so, Coleman is a great replacement to back up Kaleb Johnson.
Fourth round – IOL Parker Brailsford – Alabama
We don’t know how long Isaace Seumalo will play but Brailsford would be great with Zach Frazier and Mason McCormick along the interior offensive line.
Fifth round – OT Tristan Leigh – Clemson
Leigh is a great athlete and has starter potential. We like him to work in as the primary backup to Broderick Jones on the left side.
Fifth round – DT Kayden McDonald – Ohio State
In terms of potential, McDonald is one of the best interior defensive linemen in the country. He’s a powerful nose tackle and run stuffer.
Fifth round – CB David Igbinosun – Ohio State
We go back to cornerback here to select Igbinosun because with his size and athleticism, he’s just too good of a value to pass on.
