The precursory to the 2025 college football season kicks off next week in Arlington, and the Cowboys will be represented by a pair of native Okies who made a big impact in 2024 and the team’s most seasoned veteran.

The Big 12’s Football Media Days is set to take place Tuesday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 9 at the Dallas Cowboys’ global headquarters. The conference’s coaches will each bring a handful of players to represent their programs. Mike Gundy and Co. will be a part of the Wednesday slate.

Here’s who he is bringing.

Josh Ford | Sophomore | Tight End

Ford didn’t take long to make his mark in Stilly, even though he’d come from right down the street.

The Stillwater native played in all 12 games as a true freshman last season, logging six starts. He grabbed 10 catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. That TD came during his season-high, 33-yard performance in the Cowboys’ win over Tulsa.

Iman Oates | Redshirt Senior | Defensive Tackle

Once given the opportunity last year, Oates made an immediate impact.

He was one of five Cowboy defenders to start all 12 games last season. After two years at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, followed by a redshirt year in 2023, the Tulsa native amassed the second most tackles among OSU D-linemen (25) and added three tackles for loss, two sacks, a QB hurry and a pass breakup.

Cam Smith | Redshirt Senior | Cornerback

Smith comes in having started 27 consecutive games in a Cowboy jersey, the most on the roster.

He has been an effective defender in OSU’s secondary for some time, but his highlight play came last year, also against Tulsa, when he snatched an interception and returned it for 51 yards. Smith’s seven pass breakups ranked second on the team, as well.
