With a smile, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Hunter agrees that he’s different.
In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy, Hunter was also named AP College Football Player of the Year, Biletnikoff Award (best WR), Bednarik Award (top defender), Lott IMPACT Trophy (top defensive player who exhibits Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity), Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, Paul Hornung Award (most versatile player) and Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
While Callahan said Hunter has the ability to play on both sides of the football, he anticipated he’d start at cornerback in the NFL and “then you find ways to interject him into the offense as he gets more comfortable, he plays more and more offensively.”
Hunter plans to work as a receiver and defensive back during the pre-draft process. In the NFL, he’ll be ready to compete wherever his next team wants him to play.
“I have my own unique play style,” he said. “I play on both sides of the ball, and not many people in the NFL have done it. I’d like to play both sides of the football, and if they give me an opportunity to play on both sides, I am going to play both sides.
“I’m just a diehard for football – I love to compete.”
