EUGENE — Oregon replaced its Australian punter with a former All-American Aussie punter.

James Ferguson-Reynolds, who averaged 43.53 yards on 43 punts at Boise State last season, committed to transfer to the Ducks on Thursday. An AFCA second team and AP third team All-American in 2023, Ferguson-Reynolds has one season of eligibility remaining.

The addition of Ferguson-Reynolds comes less than a week after Oregon’s punters had a poor display during its spring game. Returning starter Ross James averaged 31.3 yards on three punts, Andrew Boyle averaged 35.3 and Gage Hurych averaged 39.7.

Luke Dunne, Oregon’s backup punter last season, announced his commitment to Washington last week.

From Geelong, Australia, Ferguson-Reynolds came to the U.S. via ProKick Australia and previously played at the junior level of Australian Rules Football.

Ferguson-Reynolds is the 11th scholarship transfer to Oregon this offseason and the first this spring. His addition gives the Ducks 82 projected scholarship players in the fall.
