With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Indianapolis Colts’ 91-man roster.
Going alphabetically, up next is offensive tackle Blake Freeland.

After playing 701 snaps as a rookie in 2023 at right tackle while filling in for Braden Smith, who missed time due to injury, Freeland’s role was significantly reduced in Year 2. Of course, Smith and Bernhard Raimann were the starters at tackle, but Freeland was also surpassed on the depth chart by Matt Goncalves, who was the first tackle off the bench.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
Like last year, Raimann and Smith will be the Colts‘ starting tackles in 2025. Indianapolis also drafted Jalen Travis in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft. During OTAs and minicamp, with the second team offense, Freeland was reportedly the left tackle, and Travis was at right tackle.

However, my guess is that the Colts cross-train Freeland and Travis at both tackle spots, like they did last season with Goncalves, and ultimately, one of them will be the team’s go-to swing tackle off the bench, filling in at either right or left tackle as needed.
With Freeland being passed last season on the depth by Goncalves very quickly, until I see otherwise, I’m going to assume Travis does the same. This will again leave Freeland as the fourth tackle option for the Colts.
