This quarterback is an early popular pick for the Indianapolis Colts in 2026 NFL mock drafts.
It’s early. But LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is a favorite pick for the Indianapolis Colts in recent mock drafts.
Pro Football Network recently had the Colts picking Nussmeier in their three-round mock, and now Matt Miller of ESPN has him going to Indianapolis.
Of course, the obvious caveat when discussing mock drafts at this time is that predicting who a team will take 10 months out is a nearly impossible task. Team needs will change, and players will move up and down big boards.
So instead, use these mocks as a guide for which prospects to watch as the upcoming college football season unfolds.
In Miller’s mock, the Colts hold the 11th overall pick and took Nussmeier, who was the second quarterback off the board.
“Nussmeier showed flashes in his first season as a starter, throwing for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions,” wrote Miller. “The son of Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, Garrett plays with fire and energy and isn’t afraid to take chances. If he cuts down on his interceptions, Nussmeier has the velocity, accuracy and playmaking ability to move up draft boards.”
In his first season as a starter, Nussmeier completed 64% of his passes, throwing for 4,043 yards with 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions, according to PFF.
Among eligible quarterbacks, Nussmeier ranked 38th in completion rate, 35th in yards per attempt, and seventh in big-time throws.
Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson are competing for the Colts’ starting quarterback job this season, but the unknowns around this position don’t only exist in 2025 but extend to 2026 and beyond. What happens this season–good or bad–will strongly dictate what the Colts do at quarterback this next offseason.
