Browns players of the game

Deshaun Watson: Watson completed 22 of his 34 passing attempts for 186 yards. He ran in for Cleveland’s only touchdown of the game on their opening drive, which took over nine minutes off the clock.

Jerry Jeudy: Jeudy made several big catches late in the game, hauling in two first downs, including a 30-yard completion. Jeudy finished with five receptions for 73 yards.

Corey Bojorquez and Alex Wright: The impact of Bojorquez’s punt was emphasized by Wright’s efforts on the following play. After putting Jacksonville in the worst field position possible with a 39-yard punt, Wright’s first sack of the season came at an opportune time, bringing down Lawrence in the end zone for a safety.

What this means

Cleveland avoided going 0-2, collecting their first win of the season. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has yet to start a season 0-2 in his five years as the Browns head coach. The Browns needed to bounce back from a disappointing season opener loss to the Cowboys, and they displayed an improved effort on all three sides of the ball to secure the win.

The Browns also struggled on the road during the 2023 season, and knew the importance of winning on the road entering this game. Not only do they claim their first win of the season, but also displayed their capability on the road.

What’s next?

The Browns will return to Huntington Bank Field next Sunday, where they will face the Giants, who are 0-2 on the season after losing to the Washington Commanders. The game is at 1 p.m. ET.
