We are down to 67 days before the New Orleans Saints kick off their 2025 regular season at home against the Arizona Cardinals. The Saints are entering their 59th NFL season and are trying to better last year’s 5-12 record under new head coach Kellen Moore. Wearing number 67 for the Saints is veteran offensive lineman Landon Young. As our Saints Player of the Day, it’s time to take a look at Young’s background and career.

A five-star recruit at Lafayette High School in Kentucky, Young stayed local when choosing the Wildcats as his collegiate destination. He missed the 2018 campaign, but otherwise was a key piece of the Kentucky offensive line for four seasons. He’d start the last two years at left tackle and was a team captain as a senior. Young capped off his Wildcats career as a first-team All-SEC selection in 2020.

New Orleans chose Young in the middle of Round 6 in the 2021 NFL draft. As a rookie, Young started one contest but otherwise played sparingly in 10 games before ending the year on injured reserve. His offensive playing time would gradually increase in each of the next three years. He made six starts in 29 game appearances between 2022 and 2023. Last season, Young played a career-best 393 offensive snaps, starting five of his 17 games played.
Landon Young brings valuable versatility to the New Orleans front. He’s been able to play both tackle spots and even saw some snaps at guard in 2024. Often used as a sixth lineman in jumbo and goal-line packages, Young was re-signed to a one-year contract by New Orleans this offseason. He’ll try to fend off some of the new additions that the team made up front this offseason for a fifth year with the Saints.
