The NFL Draft starts on Thursday and Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes thinks his roster is in a great spot heading into the weekend where he can trust his board and add young, talented players to mix.

Free agency filled some key holes, and now comes the task of acquiring young talent via the draft that can hopefully make an immediate impact and be a core piece for the future.

“You’re always trying to figure out what we’re going to do,” Holmes said last week in his pre-draft press conference. “When you go to a movie, you’ve never seen the movie, that’s the excitement. So, you’re fine just watching the movie. I don’t understand why people can’t just watch the draft. It’s like, ‘Alright, I don’t know what’s going to happen?’ So, watch the draft and get your popcorn ready and enjoy the draft.”

The Lions currently have one selection in each of the first four rounds, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
