How did the New York Giants‘ 2025 draft class rate among the rest of the NFL? In a recent scorecard culling grades from many of the top NFL draft analysts, only the New England Patriots rated higher.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen landed perhaps the best player in the draft in Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with the third overall pick. It was a selection that Schoen said had the Giants’ war room “high-fiving and hugging.”

Schoen followed that pick up by trading back into the first round to finally get the Giants their franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss at No. 25.

“He’s got a lot of qualities you look for in a good quarterback,” Schoen said. “He’s tough, makes good decisions with the football, pushes the ball down the field, has athletic ability, played in a really tough conference, started there at USC as a young guy. But did a really good job throughout this process of our meetings, board work, workouts and the tape that we liked.”

From there, Schoen and his staff systematically addressed many of the other questions he faced heading into the draft. He added defensive and offensive line depth in Toledo’s Darius Alexander and Marcus Mbow of Purdue, respectively, and a rough-and-tumble running back in Cam Skattebo of Arizona State.

Schoen then took two players in the seventh round that could turn into lightning-in-a-bottle picks: Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidone and Oklahoma State cornerback Korie Black.
