Chad Reuter of NFL.com put together a very unique mock draft. Rather than selecting the top college prospects for each NFL team, he did a seven-round mock where he picked the top NFL players. His ultimate goal for each team and with each selection was to “win now.”
So, how many Jacksonville Jaguars players ended up being taken in Reuter’s mock draft? Let’s take a look.
1.16: QB Trevor Lawrence (Arizona)
The focus this offseason for the Jaguars has been making sure there is proper balance around Lawrence, so that he doesn’t have to do it all on every play. To accomplish this, GM James Gladstone reshaped the offensive line, added speed to the skill positions, while Liam Coen’s offense can help shoulder some of the playmaking burden.
2.58: WR Brian Thomas Jr. (New York Jets)
Thomas finished third among all receivers in receiving yards as a rookie in 2024. In Coen’s offense, we are going to see his role expand, specifically in how he is utilized, with Thomas seeing more snaps from the slot and how he attacks the different levels of the field.
4.105: WR/CB Travis Hunter (Minnesota)
The next step for Hunter in his development plan with the Jaguars is to regularly play on both sides of the ball during the same practice. This is something we will see once training camp begins. As far as what his in-season playing time on offense vs. defense looks like, as Tony Khan described recently, game flow will be a key factor in determining what that looks like.
5.130: DE Josh Hines-Allen (New York Giants)
Hines-Allen was still one of the more productive pass rushers among his position group last season. But under Anthony Campanile, he is back to his more natural playing weight in 2025, after being asked to bulk up last season. Hines-Allen said recently that he is “excited” about this Jaguars’ defense this season.
6.181: DE Travon Walker (Dallas)
Walker has recorded double-digit sacks in each of the last two seasons. If he can do it again in 2025, he will become the first Jaguars’ defender to do that in three straight seasons. Walker also ranked in the top 20 in pressures in 2024. But while pressures and sacks are what garner the attention, Walker is focused on being a well-rounded defender who leaves his mark in the run game as well.
