The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran running back Elijah Mitchell on March 12, 2025.
Mitchell began his career in professional football with the San Francisco 49ers, who selected him with the No. 194 pick in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft.

Though he has only made 12 starts through his first three regular-season campaigns, Mitchell has rushed for 1523 yards and nine touchdowns, with an additional 158 yards gained and one touchdown scored as a receiver in the passing game.
Despite his successes in San Francisco, Mitchell should not be expected to push Isiah Pacheco for the starting spot in Kansas City’s offensive backfield next season.
