Once the NFL season ends, so do power rankings. After all, no NFL team looks the same in the following season. Teams add help in free agency, but some spend much less than others. Then, there is the NFL draft. Once all 32 NFL teams finish the draft, we have a clearer picture of what each team will look like for the upcoming season.

This week, we’ve seen various power rankings, and the Washington Commanders have consistently been in the top 10, generally ranking somewhere between 6 and 8. Some are much higher on the 2025 Commanders, including Rich Eisen.

On a recent edition of the “Rich Eisen Show,” Eisen revealed his top 10 power rankings for next season. No surprise, Eisen has the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles at No. 1. At No. 2 is the Commanders.

Has Washington improved that much? The Commanders have ensure there will be no offensive dropoff after a record-breaking season from quarterback Jayden Daniels. General manager Adam Peters traded for five-time Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil and spent a first-round pick on tackle Josh Conerly Jr. This allows Washington to move last year’s left tackle, Brandon Coleman, inside to guard, improving three positions with two moves.

Defensively, the Commanders haven’t lost a few contributors on defense, led by franchise stalwart Jonathan Allen. They lost safety Jeremy Chinn, who was very good last season, and leading sack artist Dante Fowler Jr. Fowler had 10.5 sacks last season, but was a liability against the run. The Commanders feel like they’ve improved against the run and have also strengthened their secondary. Washington is counting on head coach Dan Quinn to be creative with the pass rush, while an improved secondary will also help the pass rush.

While you could argue that the Commanders haven’t improved their defense, the additions to the offensive line and the arrival of wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Jaylin Lane should keep Washington’s offense strong.

The Eagles and Commanders should be a fun battle for years to come.
