Xandra Pohl is clearing the air about her relationship status

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 24-year-old DJ and model confirms that she is officially single

The confirmation comes after she was romantically linked to former NFL wide receiver Danny Amendola

Xandra Pohl is clearing the air about her relationship status, and she’s doing it on her own terms.

After sparking dating rumors with former NFL wide receiver Danny Amendola last year, the 24-year-old DJ and model confirms that she is officially single in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

“I am very much on the market,” Pohl says. “Right now, I’m at a place in my career where I’m pouring everything into it. I honestly don’t know if I could handle a relationship at this moment — I just want to have fun.”

Reflecting on her journey, she doesn’t hold back. “I was thinking about it, and there’s no way I’d be where I am today if I had a man weighing me down.”

Pohl and Amendola first sparked dating rumors in June 2024 when they were spotted together at Tom Brady‘s Hall of Fame induction for the New England Patriots. Pohl was also seen supporting the former NFL player as he participated in Dancing with the Stars. However, following the second week of DWTS performances, Amendola told E! News that the two were just friends.

“Xandra is a great friend of mine,” he said. “I’m a huge fan and supporter of her, and it’s good to have a friend like her.”

With summer in full swing, Pohl says she plans to fully embrace her independence. “I want to be feral,” she says with a laugh. “I don’t want to be tied down or have anyone telling me what to do. Some of my friends are in happy relationships, and that’s great. But others are constantly complaining, and I’m like — what are we doing? It’s hot girl summer, we’re in the Hamptons — let’s live it up!”

When asked about the craziest DM she’s ever received, Pohl laughs and admits the answer might surprise people.

“You’d think way more men would be reaching out to me, but honestly? There aren’t. It’s mostly girls hyping me up — and I love that,” she says.

“That’s the funny thing. When I first became single, after getting out of a really long relationship, I thought my DMs were going to be flooded. Like, completely out of control. But oh my God — it was dry. Dry as a bone. I was like, this is embarrassing and honestly, humbling.”

Pohl previously dated Jack Touzet for three years before she announced their split in January 2024.

Still, there have been a few standouts among her DMs.

“There’ve definitely been some good ones,” she adds. “Most of the guys I’d be interested in are probably in there, but I don’t check my DMs that often. I find it kind of cringe. It’s like playing the game — if you DM me, I’m icked out. But if you don’t DM me, how am I supposed to know you exist? So it’s like: ick or nothing.”

As for the wildest message she’s ever received? She’s keeping that one under wraps. “That one might have to go to the grave,” she teases. “There’ve been a lot. But pretty much everyone’s slid in at this point. It’s confidential information.”

But when it comes to future relationships, Pohl knows exactly what she’s looking for and what she’s not.

“I’ve learned that if I’m going to be in a relationship or even a close friendship, I need to be surrounded by secure people,” she says. “I don’t want an egotistical narcissist, but I do want someone who can hold their own. That’s so important, especially when you’re a successful woman.”

“There’s nothing worse than dealing with insecure men,” she continues. “People think it’s cute — ‘Oh, he’s sweet, he’s shy.’ No. Insecure men cause all the problems in relationships. It really pisses some guys off when you’re confident and doing your thing. That’s why my biggest green flag is emotional security. You don’t even have to be super successful — you just need to know who you are and be comfortable with that. If you’re insecure, I’m like, please step away. I’ve dealt with that before. I can’t do it again.”
