Diehard Dolphins fans know that there’s something special about Miami’s throwback uniforms.

Worn from 1966-1973, these original Dolphins threads housed the perfect 1972 season. It’s this uniform that fans and staff remember each year when those champagne bottles pop to commemorate the fact that Miami still stands alone as the NFL’s lone franchise to author an unbeaten season.

And the Dolphins’ throwbacks are receiving their proper recognition from CBS. In its ranking of the NFL’s top throwback uniforms and helmets, the Miami Dolphins grabbed the No. 1 spot.

The best throwback uniforms in the NFL belong to the Dolphins. Miami’s classic uniforms date to their AFL days, the jerseys worn for the 1972 perfect season. The home aqua uniforms were top notch, but the white road uniforms are even better — and the classic logo remains on the helmet.

Miami wore its throwbacks twice last season, on Sept. 12 for Thursday Night Football against Buffalo and on Nov. 28 on Thanksgiving against the Green Bay Packers.
