The Mill City Eagles football team is off to a 2-1 start this season.

Saturday, the Eagles got back in the win column with a 32-20 win over the Boston Bandits, behind quarterback Calvin Bou­dreau’s four touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown.

Tight end Bryan Warren had three scoring receptions and wideout Ryan Walker added a touchdown reception.

The defense combined for three Interceptions on the night, one each by Mike Bethune, Randy Del­va and Mike Melanson.

Mill City is off this weekend and then hosts the Middleboro Cobras at home on July 12.

Nick Zullo of Tewksbury is a member of the Eagles as are Wilmington residents Joshiah Martinez and Johnathan Martinez. Liam Fitzgerald of Bur­lington, who played football at Shawsheen Tech, is also on the squad.

The Eagles opened the season with a 42-16 win over the Granite State Destroyers.

Mill City scored the first 21 points of the night to put this one away early.

Tyler Fontes started with a 1-yard touchdown run and kicker Zack Cook ad­ded the extra point.

Florey Kabulo recovered a fumble to set up the second touchdown, an 8-yard run by Boudreau. Boudreau found Warren with the 2-point conversion pass to make it 15-0.

Defense created the third touchdown when Angel Paulino forced a fumble and recovered it, setting up Boudreau’s 28-yard sco­ring pass to Bethune.

Granite State scored back-to-back touchdowns to make it 21-14, but Bou­dreau’s 1-yard scoring run late in the second quarter made it 28-14 at halftime.

The Eagles added two more touchdowns in the third quarter.

After Christian Perkins recovered a fumble caused by Brandon Santell and Tristan Cahill, Boudreau found the end zone again with a 2-yard run. Cook’s extra point pushed the lead to 35-14.

An interception by Be­thune set up the final score, an 18-yard pass from Boudreau to Princ­well Iwejuo.

In Game 2 against the Glens Falls Greenjackets, Mill City lost 14-0.

The Eagles still had plen­ty of highlights.

Kabulo forced another fumble that was recover­ed by EJ Ughu.

Bethune had 17 carries for 74 yards and one re­ception for 8 yards.

Other defensive standouts included Mike Melan­son, who 10 total tackles and Liam Fitzgerald, who had nine tackles.
