The ceiling for how good this Jacksonville Jaguars’ team will be in 2025 will be determined by the play of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

However, as defensive end Josh Hines-Allen explained recently while appearing on FS1’s ‘Speak,’ reaching those heights doesn’t fall only on Lawrence’s shoulders. There needs to be balance around him as well.

“We all got a job to do,” Hines-Allen said, via Jaguars on SI. “But again, what coach Coen is doing, he’s not only hyping him up and pushing him, but the offensive line has to be better. The running backs, we are going to have to run this ball effectively, you know, in order for him to do what we need to do.”

Building around Lawrence has been a core emphasis for the Jaguars‘ organization this offseason. That started when the team hired Liam Coen, who brings a Sean McVay-style offense to Jacksonville.

This scheme is built on multiplicity, which means throwing a number of different looks at opponents to keep them off balance and guessing, which in turn, can create mismatches and opportunities for the quarterback to exploit.

Along with the schematic change, GM James Gladstone has reshaped the offensive line unit with six new additions between free agency and the NFL draft. Consistency for any offense begins up front with the offensive line providing a run game to lean on and time in the pocket for the quarterback.

Gladstone also added a lot more speed to the offense, signing Dyami Brown, along with drafting Travis Hunter and Bhayshul Tuten.

“We got BTJ, you know, who’s already solidified himself as one of the top receivers,” Hines-Allen added. “And again, that takes the pressure off of Travis going into a situation where he doesn’t have to be the number one guy on that side of the ball. So again, that helps Trevor develop into the guy that we all know we can be. But I think it’s just maximizing everybody else around him, and I think that’s where we are at.”

Coen’s offensive system is robust, but as Lawrence said during offseason programs, it is one that gives you all the answers.

“I love Trevor,” said Hines-Allen. “He’s my quarterback. I got his back no matter what. I think it’s all up to him. I think wherever he wants us to be, he’s going to take us there. I love Trevor at the end of the day.”
