The Atlanta Falcons targeted defensive players with four out of their five selections in the 2025 NFL draft, which was not a surprise to anyone who watched the team last season. Offensively, the Falcons are in much better shape.

The team has a strong offensive line, a potential franchise quarterback in Michael Penix Jr. and a talented group of skill position players that includes three top-10 picks. Tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London and running back Bijan Robinson have all had their moments.

While London and Robinson are coming off breakout seasons, Pitts is a few years removed from his 1,000-yard rookie campaign. The 24-year-old tight end is entering the final year of his rookie contract and fans aren’t sure what to expect. However, Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson is expecting big things from Pitts this season.

Zac Robinson on expectations for Kyle Pitts

“I’m expecting Kyle to take a big jump,” said Robinson. “You know, Year 2 two of the system. Year 2 of understanding what we’re trying to do offensively. All those things that come with it, so expecting a lot of good things from Kyle. He knows what he needs to work on with the details, some of the fundamentals and techniques.”

During his first year in Robinson’s system, Pitts finished with 47 receptions for 602 receiving yards and four touchdowns. The quarterback play was inconsistent throughout the 2024 season, with Kirk Cousins eventually benched after Week 15.

Pitts’ route running was somewhat inconsistent last season and his effort was questioned at times. He hasn’t quite looked the same since his season-ending knee injury in 2022. However, we saw more flashes from Pitts once Penix took over. The second-year quarterback’s ability to push the ball down the field bodes well for Pitts going forward.

“I’m pumped for Kyle. I can’t wait to get on the field with him and that’s gonna be a lot of fun to see his growth,” Robinson concluded.
