Broncos Wire‘s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year tight end/fullback hybrid Nate Adkins, No. 45.
Before the Broncos: Adkins (6-3, 252 pounds) had a productive collegiate career at East Tennessee State (2018-21) and at South Carolina (2022). During his time at East Tennessee, Adkins was a two-time first-team All-SoCon (and a one-time second-team All-SoCon) player, with 73 catches for 749 yards and four touchdowns before transferring to the Gamecocks, where his father, Greg, was the offensive line coach.

During his lone year at South Carolina, Adkins played in 13 games, hauling in 13 receptions for 168 yards. On the defensive side, Adkins made one tackle, forcing a fumble.
Broncos tenure: The Denver Broncos signed Adkins as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL draft. Adkins made the 53-man roster in 2023, playing in 10 games (one start), catching four passes for 22 yards. On special teams, Adkins made one tackle.
In 2024, Adkins began to hit his stride in the Denver offense with then-rookie quarterback Bo Nix at the helm. Adkins played in all 17 games (10 starts), catching 14 passes on 15 targets for 115 yards and three touchdowns. On special teams, Adkins contributed five total tackles (two solo, three assisted). His three scores led the team’s TEs.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely. In head coach Sean Payton’s offense, the tight end position is one of the most foundational pieces in making plays successful. Whether it’s as a blocker or as a receiving threat, Adkins can help make the Broncos better in 2025, creating another target and weapon for quarterback Bo Nix heading into his sophomore season.
