Former New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton III shared a highlight reel video of his incredible touchdown connection with wide receiver Demario Douglas during the Patriots’ regular season finale game against the Buffalo Bills.

The caption for the video said, “Joe Milton almost had one of the best plays of the year.”

Milton took a snap out of shotgun during the play and evaded multiple defenders in the pocket with nifty footwork and a beautiful spin move before delivering a strike down the field to Douglas in the front corner of the end zone.

The play was ultimately called back due to a penalty, but it was a tremendous sequence that showed off Milton’s ability to extend plays and create when things break down around him. Milton posted a five-word message with the shared video.

“It counted in my books,” Milton posted on Instagram, followed by a laughing emoji.

Milton was traded to the Dallas Cowboys back in early April for a fifth-round draft pick after only one season in New England. Not everyone was a fan of the trade given Milton’s potential upside at quarterback.

Instead of playing behind Drake Maye, he’ll now serve as the backup option behind longtime Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
