The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the best drafts in the league last week.

General manager Jason Licht addressed some immediate needs for the team while also planning for the future. The offseason additions to the team didn’t stop after Saturday’s final day of the draft.

Licht added a number of undrafted free agents in an effort to prep the roster for 2025.

The Buccaneers added QB Connor Bazelak, RB Josh Williams, WRs Will Sheppard and Garrett Greene, tight end Anthony Landphere, offensive linemen Jake Majors, Ben Scott and Ben Chukwuma, linebacker John Bullock, corner Roman Parodie, safeties J.J. Robers and Shilo Sanders, kicker Ryan Coe and defensive lineman Desmond Watson.

Watson is notable because he instantly becomes the heaviest player on any NFL roster at 464 pounds. … Or does he?

Watson relayed to NFL Network that he’s in the process of *ahem* slimming down. He noted that he’s already down 27 pounds from the 464 pounds he weighed in with at Florida’s Pro Day.

“I weighed 437 late last week,” Watson said. “That’s the journey I’ve got to take to be successful. It’s good for clicks to be the biggest player ever, but to be successful I have to lose some weight. I’m changing habits and things like that to get there. I have a long journey to go. Even though I’ve made good progress so far, I’ve got a long journey to go.

“I think I move pretty well for my size, and I might not have to get down to the average D-tackle.”

Watson seems to be taking this NFL thing seriously, and that’s a good thing for the Bucs. But it probably has Florida head coach Billy Napier wondering, “What the heck?”
