Oh come on! Who didn’t see this coming?

Some of you need to hear this. Don’t take this as a nasty dose of truth serum. Instead, think of it as ‘tough love’. You aren’t ready to be an offensive coordinator simply because you have mastered the Philadelphia Eagles‘ playbook on the Madden NFL game.

Stop laughing. Some of you are, no doubt, confused about where this is coming from. Trust us on this one. People believe that, and no reasonable discussion can persuade them otherwise. Believe it or not, ladies and gents, there is more to being a great coach or OC than manipulating the ‘R1’ and ‘R2’ buttons (or the ‘Right Bumper’ and ‘Right Trigger’ on the Xbox).

A great NFL OC must manage snap counts, film, teaching, and, of course, the meshing of all of those alpha males’ personalities, but here’s where we contradict ourselves. This Eagles offense is so loaded that it’s sometimes easy to believe that a 12-year-old can squeeze 20 points a game out of this unit.

The Eagles’ offensive skill players earn a massive nod from ESPN

Kevin Patullo couldn’t have landed in a better situation. Kellen Moore’s time in Philly has ended. He now takes the reins as the New Orleans Saints‘ new head coach. Patullo slides into the Eagles’ offensive coordinator’s chair.

He inherits Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert. There isn’t a more dangerous unit in all of pro football, but don’t take our word for it. Listen to the experts.

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell ranked every team’s wide receiver, tight end, and running back rooms. Philly landed on top. Here are some of the reasons for that theory.

“Their big addition last offseason was a key difference-maker. Saquon Barkley stayed healthy, and while he certainly benefited from playing next to Jalen Hurts and behind a great offensive line, he produced one of the greatest seasons by any back in NFL history… And while the Eagles throw the ball less often than just about any other team, their receivers are spectacularly efficient…”

As great as that sounds, it gets better.

“If you prefer the Lions or Bengals to what the Eagles can offer, I wouldn’t take much issue. This is a narrow race at the top. When a team can field a top-five wideout, another top-15 wideout, and a guy coming off one of the best running back seasons in NFL history on any given snap, though, I don’t think anyone can take much issue with Philadelphia having the best group of playmakers in football.”

Rounding out the rest of Barnwell’s top five are the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Rams. If you’re interested in where Philadelphia’s NFC East rivals landed, they all fell out of the top ten. The Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and New York Giants finished 11th, 13th, and 26th, respectively.
