Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III struggled throughout the 2024 season. Injuries limited Walker to a career-low 12 regular-season appearances. The former 2022 second-round pick rushed for a personal-worst 573 rushing yards as a result. His 3.7 yards per carry average was also the lowest of his career.
Walker rushed for 1,050 yards as a rookie in 2022. His sophomore campaign was an appropriate follow-up, gaining 905 yards on the ground. It was especially disappointing to see Walker so limited by injury in 2024, behind a non-effective offensive line, to boot.
ESPN is currently releasing its position rankings daily. Polling league executives and coaches around the league, they are compiling top-10 rankings at every position. With running backs leading the charge, Walker unsurprisingly did not make the cut.
ESPN noted that Walker did receive vote(s), but not enough to make the list.
The upcoming campaign is a fate-deciding one for Walker. The former Michigan State standout must stay healthy in a contract year. He’s playing in a new-look offense overseen by new play-caller Klint Kubiak. Zach Charbonnet will also compete for carries in the backfield, and seventh-round rookie Damien Martinez offers another option.
Walker is facing an uphill battle. When healthy, he’s been Seattle’s most talented back. But availability is a massive question mark, and the Seahawks have several ball-carriers jockeying for opportunities.
