It’s not often you can acquire a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle without giving up a first-round pick. That’s what Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters did this offseason, sending multiple draft picks to the Houston Texans for Laremy Tunsil.
Tunsil immediately filled one of Washington’s important holes, protecting quarterback Jayden Daniels’ blind side. While Tunsil had a down year, for his standards, last season due to several pre-snap penalties, he remains one of the NFL’s premier offensive tackles.

As the NFL Network continues to release its list of the top 100 players, it was Tunsil’s turn on Wednesday. Tunsil was ranked as the No. 86 player in the NFL for the 2025 season.
Former teammate and running back Joe Mixon spoke of Tunsil’s impact on the field, calling him one of the NFL’s best left tackles and praising his preparation.
Baltimore Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum praised Tunsil’s technique before speaking on his physicality and ability to do things that other players aren’t physically capable of doing. Chargers offensive tackle Joe Alt says there are parts of Tunsil’s game that he tries to model. Eagles All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson spoke about Tunsil’s hand strength and quick feet, which are necessary elements for a left tackle.

How good is Tunsil? Some considered last season a down year for him due to the penalties, but he remains a dominant pass protector, which is excellent news for Daniels. He went seven games without allowing a single pressure in 2024.
Tunsil is the first Washington player ranked thus far, with Daniels, linebacker Bobby Wagner and wide receiver Terry McLaurin almost certain to hear their names called.
