Next up is safety Joey Blount.

Joey Blount background, 2024 season

Originally an undrafted free agent from Virginia with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, Blount was signed to the Cardinals practice squad on Sept. 18, 2023, and was promoted to the active roster 15 days later. He has established himself as a special teams standout during his two seasons in Arizona. Last season, he played 15 games, was inactive for one and was on injured reserve for the final game of the season.

Blount played 268 snaps (70 percent) on special teams and added 20 defensive snaps. He tied for second on the team with seven special teams tackles (six solo).

Joey Blount 2025 contract details, cap hit

Scheduled to be a restricted free agent in 2025, rather than tender Blount at $3.263 million for one year, he signed a two-year contract worth $3.75 million that included a $400,000 signing bonus. His base salary for 2025 is $1.225 million and he has a salary-cap charge of $1.7 million.

2025 questions, roster outlook

Blount has become a leader on special teams, so his roster spot appears secure. However, he will still have to earn a job because of the numbers and competition in the secondary room.
