Leeds United are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with a number of options interesting the Whites.
The importance of a safe pair of hands should not be understated, and Leeds United have seldom had someone they can rely upon consistently since the days of Nigel Martyn and Paul Robinson.
Illan Meslier’s form since 2021 has been mixed to say the least, but the Frenchman is also in the final year of his Elland Road contract as well this summer.
Olympique Lyonnais’ Lucas Perri could be an exciting addition in goal and initial reports stated that the 49ers are keen on Perri for Leeds as a priority in a £12.8 million deal this summer.

Leeds United News revealed yesterday that Perri is a priority on Leeds’ goalkeeper list, with the 27-year-old one of the top three choices at the club this summer after other moves didn’t materialise.
However, a ‘concrete approach’ has not been made yet, with Monaco and Neom SC also said to be watching Perri. Others don’t expect Leeds to sign Perri, but there have been other developments since then.
An English club have stepped up interest in Perri, which is likely to be Leeds. It may now not matter, with a deal deemed as a complex one to get over the line after further updates on the situation.
Lyon have been reinstated back into Ligue 1 upon appeal
Clearly adds a bit more complexity to Leeds United’s interest in Lucas Perri – though Lyon will be required to operate under strict financial limits
So will be interesting to see how it plays out #lufc https://t.co/dc3HD85UpD

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES
Isaac Johnson of Leeds Live believes this clearly adds a bit more complexity to Leeds’ interest in Perri, with the caveat being that Lyon will be required to operate under strict financial limits.
He claims it will be interesting to see how it plays out from here. However, this may well put an end to any Leeds interest, especially as Lyon compete in the UEFA Europa League next season.
Leeds have alternative options they can pursue. We also compared Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and Perri and the 6’8″ Torino stopper came out on top statistically.

The timing of the verdict is interesting, given the emergence of another name in the last 24 hours. Leeds may already be looking at alternatives.
Dominik Livakovic was linked to Leeds back in 2022 but the Croatian hero could be being looked at again this summer.
That’s because Sunderland and Leeds are in the mix for Livakovic, per one report from AS Marca. The Fenerbahce stopper has other suitors and Fenerbahce were linked with Meslier as they look to replace him this summer.
Jose Mourinho’s side have also registered interest in Leeds target Milinkovic-Savic. There is still plenty of uncertainty as to which option Leeds will finally pull the trigger on.
