GREEN BAY, Wis. (WMTV) – The Packers welcome their eight newest faces to Green Bay– their draftees made their way to a two-day rookie minicamp.
Matt LaFleur said the purpose was to “knock off the jitters” and give the rookies a taste of what’s to come. The rookies worked out with the strength staff this Friday, and will have a modified individual period on Saturday.
LaFleur got the chance to to get to know his newest guys better and give them some training opportunities before training camp begins over the summer.
“They did modify an individual period in terms of, we’re going to scale back the intensity and you just want to give them some things that they’re going to they can take back with them and work over the week, but it’s going to be low intensity,” LaFleur said. “It’s going to be more teaching that way when they come back. It’s not like you have to slow down the whole group and and teach them when we’re on the grass. The best time of the year is when our players are in the building. So whether it’s rookies or veterans, it’s always exciting when you get to work with your players. That’s why we got into this thing is to coach and we all love the game of football. So I think there’s a little bit more purpose behind your work when your players are in the building.”
