13) What injury statuses should we be tracking when players report back?

John Schmeelk: Malik Nabers is the first one to keep an eye on, but given Brian Daboll’s comments and that the wide receiver started doing minimal participation in practice in the spring, there should be optimism here. The head coach responded “no” when asked if there are any concerns about Nabers being ready for the start of training camp.

“Every person’s at a different part in, call it rehab if you will or prehab,” Daboll said. “Wnd we just did what we thought was best for Malik to try to get him as healthy as we can.”

Left tackle Andrew Thomas, who is recovering season-ending surgery on his foot, would not commit to a return time when I spoke to him on the Giants Huddle podcast, but he did say his goal is to be ready by the start of the season. Rookie running back Cam Skattebo is the third offensive player to watch since he didn’t do much on the field throughout the spring.

On defense, Dexter Lawrence did not do anything with the team in the spring coming off his elbow injury. Darius Alexander likewise didn’t do much in the spring, and it will be important to get him on the field so he does not miss any valuable reps. The last one to watch is linebacker Bobby Okereke, who didn’t do a ton of work in the spring and is coming off a back injury that ended his 2024 season prematurely.
